Cryptocurrency wasn’t deemed hip or trendy at the start of Bitcoin’s growth. Few people were aware of their existence, and their public image was mostly that of an Internet oddity or a questionable technology for nerds.

However, following many price explosions, a large number of people chose to enter the crypto market. It’s also no longer only a place for techies to hang out. ICOs in 2017, NFTs in 2021 — all of this has generated a lot of hype and has been debated extensively on social media. Some celebrities, too, have succumbed to the fads and hype.

Celebrities have emerged as some of the most recognizable cryptocurrency investors. A few cryptocurrencies’ values are even heavily influenced by the behavior of a few celebrities. Here are six celebrities that were early adopters of cryptocurrency and helped to establish crypto trends.

Elon Musk

Elon Musk is currently one of the most well-known and important figures in the cryptosphere. Musk owns at least 0.25 BTC, which he received as a gift from a friend many years ago. Elon Musk explicitly stated his support for Bitcoin in 2019, calling its architecture “excellent.” He added #Bitcoin to his Twitter bio in January 2021, prompting the BTC price to rise by more than 25% in a matter of days.
