Elon Musk is now worth more than Warren Buffett and Bill Gates combined.
The world’s wealthiest man continues to amass wealth. Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Inc TSLA +3.02 percent (Get Free Alerts for TSLA), reached another important milestone this week, surpassing the wealth of two leaders who previously topped the list.
What Happened: According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Musk is worth $236 billion. This puts Musk ahead of Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon.com Inc AMZN +3.31%, whom Musk succeeded in January. From 2017 through 2021, Bezos led the list.
Musk is now worth more than Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft Corporation MSFT +0.48%, and Warren Buffett, founder of Berkshire Hathaway NYSEBRKANYSEBRKB.
With a net worth of $130 billion, Bill Gates is fourth on the list, while Warren Buffett is tenth with a net worth of $103 billion. Year to far, Gates has lost $1.3 billion in fortune, while Buffett has gained $15.7 billion.
According to Bloomberg, Musk has increased his net worth by $66.5 billion this year. Musk’s entire wealth increase would put him in 16th position on the list of billionaires, a stunning amount given how much value he has generated to date in 2021.
