Since its introduction last week, a cryptocurrency based on the popular Korean Netflix program Squid Game has surged by over 45,000%.
The Squid crypto currency, which was trading at around 1.2 cents on Tuesday, is now worth more over $4.5, representing a roughly 45,000% increase in value.
Squid is a “play-to-earn” cryptocurrency inspired by a dystopian Korean drama about a fatal competition of children’s games.
With 111 million viewers turning in on October 12th, the show became an immediate smash throughout the world and the most-watched TV series of all time.
People acquire tokens in the Squid Game project in order to play online games and earn additional tokens, which can be swapped for other cryptocurrencies or fiat money.
